Another great book in the First Mountain Man series Love this whole series While I m not a huge fan of Westerns particularly ones that denigrate Native Americans this one turned out to be a page turner for me The author did a great job of creating and fleshing out a cast of characters some of whom I was enthusiastically rooting for and even now several days after completing the book still thinking about I picked this book up because it was one that my stepfather who recently passed away had owned Mike was an old fashioned ind of fella who enjoyed a good Western I myself enjoy modern Western TV series such as Hell on Wheels but I had never read one So even though I wasn t sure if he had read it I figured he probably at least touched it And I thought it would be nice to get my Western fix while connecting with him even if only by touching the same book This aspect of my reading experience was as fulfilling as I hoped it would be However concerning the content of the book Preacher s Fire is what one might refer to as a potboiler It has an abundance of action scenes but hardly anything happens in the inner lives of the characters They re all stone cut outs of people who rarely have an unexpected reaction to the situations that confront them Even so the freuency with which the action scenes occurred coming both through impending violence and impish prostitutes incited me to read rapidly through the last page All in all Preacher s fire just wasn t crafted to my taste in literature But I was able to enjoy it So thanks Mike Excellent bookVery good western book exellent to Life Changing Smiles keep you ontheplot william johnstone alwayseep you going to the very end of the book I am reading all of the mountain man episodes but this particular one did not appeal to me It takes place in a big city and is like a cloak and dagger than the usual western PREACHER GOES TO ST LOUISAnother great moving action filled western with our friends from the Rockies Preacher Uncle Dan Sullivan Dog and Horse Everyone on their way to St LoosLouis to locate a devious thug named Shad Beaumont A man Innocent Sins (Harlequin Presents, killer who had caused the death of Uncle Dan s nephew Pete Now Beaumont had the nerve to put a BOUNTYon Preacher because Preacher slayed all the thugs Beaumont had sent to take over the fur business of the Hudson Bay Fur Company It s what we call a syndicate today extending out westyounow wealthand no law to hinder your extortionbut there was a blockade calledPREACHEREveryone will ENJOY this adventure series ofTHE FIRST. A Mountain Man In DisguiseA big city like St Louis is the last place where a mountain man like Preacher would pick a fight But how else will he get at the ruthless power broker who is using fear and bloodshed to take ov.
